About

Hey, I’m Joleen, an Irish photographer. I’m based in Cork, but I love to travel and will go wherever my camera takes me! Currently I’m planning a sailing trip across the Atlantic ocean this November to the Caribbean where I will be based over Christmas and in the early part of 2013.

As a wanderer, of course, I love capturing the places and people. Different lifestyles, cultures and people fascinate me.

A huge part of my commissioned work is wedding photography. It’s such a privilege to be part of a hugely significant and memorable day in peoples lives.

Other areas of interest, and probably due to my upbringing in a our family pub and restaurant is food photography. I’m interested in where our food comes from and relish in the stories of those who bring us whats on our plates from the fisherman to the cook.

When I’m not playing with my cameras or dangling my legs off the side of a boat, you’ll probably find me working at home in that same pub and restaurant – Cronins! For me, it’s also a playground to experiment with all the crazy events that I concoct in my head like the Irish Redhead Convention. This was a crazy idea that myself my brother came up with, and exceeded into an annual event for gingers in Ireland. The freckle counting and carrot tossing championships are epic!

I’ve also spent time living in Holland where I worked in design and multimedia education and in London as a photographer’s assistant. My current ambition is to spend a few months working in New York on a photography project (hint, hint; all offers will be seriously considered! šŸ™‚ )

I have had two travel photography books published, “Coast of Cork” and “Coast of Kerry”, both of which became Irish bestsellers. Today my images are seen in several publications and advertising campaigns.

If you are interested in working with me, drop me a line.

Joleen
